Three Heads

Comparisons of the head shrinkage. The original was sculpted a little big so I could add more detail. Then I cast that mold with the liquache and DC comp so I could pick the best from the two. Liquache holds more detail and is very smooth compared to the DC comp. I also like the size best. My next step will be to make a mold from this head and use it for the final cast in porcelain.

So close to porcelain!

Tiny Ana

Not sure what I'm doing with her yet...but I keep working on her.

I just Love the new knees!

Finally the knees work! It really pays off to take the time and sketch out the details on paper before picking up the clay. I'm learning patience. I'm so happy with how they have turned out.

Test Cast for No. 3

First cast in the new molds! The head is cast with Liquache and the body with Duncan Doll Composition. I'm very happy with no 3 but I think the head is too big and maybe the tush needs a diet. Hmmmmmm.

Petite Ana

While I'm waiting for my molds to cure, I decided to make a ball jointed version of my Petite Ana. She is a character I've been sketching for years. She always seems to find her way into my work. She came to life in a 3D papier mache version and now she need to become a ball jointed girl.

No 3 Cast

No 3 head cast in liquache. Needs some refining then I'll make a new and final mold. From the final or master mold I'll cast no 3 in porcelain.

I'm very excited to finally work with porcelain.Over the past few weeks I've been researching Kilns and all the needed equipment to make it happen. It's a big step but I think I'm ready.
